Spring News
FHS App Update
Entries for the FHS App competition for each House are in and now the real battle commences. Firstly, the teams from each House will receive training in presenting their App idea. They will then enter the “Dragon’s Den” (or Mr Dawkins, Ms Sharma and Mr Coulter as we know them!) to try to persuade them that their idea is the most cutting edge, brilliant and useful App imaginable for FHS. Good luck to all the teams and may the best App win...
Community Volunteering competition
The minutes you all gave to others are now being counted to see which House helped out the most. Helping others is so important so please please please, use your new volunteer passport and give your time to support staff and pupils around the school – every minute counts so get going now!
Sports updates
A highlight in the spring term was our year 8s coming second in the football inter-form competition. However I would like to congratulate all our KS3 forms for taking part so enthusiastically and willingly in the basketball and football competitions and representing Unity so brilliantly.
Positive points for Unity
Again last half term, Unity came 2nd in the Achievement Points competition. This shows how much effort you are putting into your studies and how well you are achieving both in the class and in after-school activities. You are all stars – let’s keep earning those positive points!
Team building and Sports Day
Can’t wait for the 12th and 13th of July (although that is a Friday!!!). On these days, the whole school will be coming together to work in House teams on fun and exciting activities such as giant games, “boom-whacking” and sports – let’s make our House proud by entering and winning!
KS4 winners
Although Unity didn’t actually win the KS4 Sports Event – we did again have the most students taking part. Volleyball, badminton and girls and boys football games were played and Unity excelled in all of them in terms of enthusiasm and perseverance. Well done to all our year 10s and 11s for being such keen sports people.
FHS reborn
Just before Easter lots of you came to watch Johnny English Reborn and enjoyed an evening of ridiculous comedy, popcorn and drinks to raise money for Amnesty International. Yes, our second ever FHS Charity Film Night was another resounding success with around £200 going to Amnesty International. Thank you to everyone who came and another Film Night will be held soon so please get in touch and let us know the film you most want to watch.
